Robert Boland, Clinical Assistant Professor
Award for Teaching Excellence

Professor Bob Boland, center, is bestowed the School’s highest honor for teaching excellence by Tisch Center Dean Lalia Rach, left, and SCPS Dean Robert Lapiner, right. Professor Boland teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses, including Economics and Finance of the Sports Industry, Introduction to Sports Management, Leadership and Management, Legal Issues in Sports, Sports Finance and Economics, and Sports Law. Dean Rach remarks that “Bob Boland is a rare and wonderful teacher, with an ability to enhance his students’ learning by incorporating works of literature into business courses. Through Shakespeare, concepts of leadership, negotiations, and relationships are brought to life. Professor Boland uses film classics and modern non-fiction from Doris Kerns Goodwin and Laura Hilldenbrand to enhance understanding of financial and economic theory. Bob Boland’s students are challenged to think differently about the business of sport using tools far beyond the norm, earning him the reputation of a superb teacher.”
